The Devil is No Longer Hiding: The Disturbing Truth Behind Dear Satan and Dear Santa

In today’s entertainment landscape, it’s becoming increasingly clear that the devil is no longer hiding. Subtle, and sometimes overt, messages are being embedded in movies targeting the hearts and minds of children. Two recent examples are Dear Satan in the Philippines and Dear Santa in the US. These seemingly harmless holiday-themed films carry concerning undertones that blur the lines between good and evil, normalizing what should never be normalized.

The Hidden Agenda of Dear Satan

Dear Satan, a movie marketed as a lighthearted holiday comedy, tells the story of a child who mistakenly writes a letter to Satan instead of Santa Claus. Instead of portraying Satan as the enemy, the movie paints him as a misunderstood, even comical, character. While some may dismiss this as harmless fun, the underlying message is dangerous: it trivializes the devil’s nature and desensitizes audiences—especially children—to his true purpose.

The Bible warns us in John 8:44:
"When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies."

Satan is not a character to be befriended or laughed at. He is the deceiver, whose ultimate goal is to lead souls away from God. Normalizing his presence in stories targeted at children is a spiritual attack we cannot ignore.

The Subtle Deception in Dear Santa

On the surface, Dear Santa in the US seems like a heartwarming tale of holiday wishes. However, the film subtly blurs the boundaries between light and darkness, suggesting that magical forces—regardless of their origin—are harmless. This tactic is yet another way the enemy seeks to confuse and deceive.

1 Peter 5:8 reminds us:
"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."

Satan is prowling, targeting the most vulnerable: our children. By disguising himself in the cloak of entertainment, he aims to infiltrate their minds and hearts, making evil seem ordinary or even appealing.

Why the Devil is No Longer Hiding

The boldness of these films signals a deeper truth: Satan knows his time is short. Revelation 12:12 warns:
"Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short."

Jesus is coming back, and the enemy is working overtime to distract and deceive. But as believers, we are not powerless. We must stand firm in God’s Word, teach our children to discern truth from lies, and pray for spiritual protection.
